Construction of major housing project in Ghana being undertaken by Construtora OAS Ghana Ltd in good progress. The Saglemi Housing Project involves construction of 1, 502 housing on a 300 acres of land. The project is located at Prampram inside the Greater Accra Region.

President John Dramani Mahama has visited the project site and he was pleased with the work progress.The President referred to the major housing project in Ghana as important which forms part of many other developments the government is currently undertaking in response to solving Ghana’s accommodation challenges.

Mahama further described the project a major boost to diminish housing deficit in the country.

The housing project is currently under the execution of the Construtora OAS Ghana Ltd. According to the company’s chairman, Andrew Clocanas, the 1502 housing unit represents phase I of the project. He added that the project is expected to be in the future expanded to up to 11,000 housing units in the Saglemi community.

“The project represents a milestone in the housing industry in Ghana, nothing of this magnitude has ever been accomplished. We are building a complete city, which will have industrial and recreational facilities, schools, shopping malls and other social amenities as well as security,” said Andrew Clocanas.

“The government played its role in securing over 1200 acres of land, at a very low rate. In return, up to 40% of the houses will be sold at subsidized rates for low income earners to afford,” he added.

Approximately, 80% of all the inputs and raw materials have been procured and fabricated in Ghana. This has created over 5000 direct and indirect jobs for the Ghanaians. The socio economic impact of the Saglemi Housing Project on Ghanaians, is expected to be massive. Saglemi Housing Project has been described as the most ambitious housing project in the Western Africa region.
