Recently the future Marriot Vacations Worldwide Headquarters finally broke ground after several delays due to the pandemic. The deal on relocating Marriott Vacations Worldwide, was finalized just a few months before the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted business operations and caused many offices to shut down.

Marriot Vacations Worldwide Corp., being the third largest Orlando-based company, plans on building this  headquarters to bring together 1500 of its employees. This is quite notable especially since the decision comes at a period when firms are rethinking the reuse of their physical office spaces after nearly two years of working remotely during the pandemic.

Located near Palm Parkway and Daryl Carter Boulevard, the nine-story, Marriot Vacations Worldwide Headquarters is the largest single office space currently under construction in Orlando, which is a welcome development for the real estate market and also signals the real estate market’s recovery from the pandemic.

The president and chief financial officer of Marriott Vacations Worldwide, John Geller, pointed out that the groundbreaking should have been the grand opening ceremony for the MARRIOTT VACATIONS WORLDWIDE Corp. headquarters.

Geller said, “Obviously Covid had different plans.”

CEO of the company, Steve Weisz said in a statement that the future of his firm was based on utilizing physical office space. He explained that running operations remotely would mean losing the entire sense of collaboration.

Weisz also stated,”You miss the sidebar conversations and the learning transfer when you’re in a physical presence.”

The future 300,000-square-foot Marriot Vacations Worldwide Headquarters will be developed near Disney on Orlando’s largest  active office construction project and it is expected to be completed in 2023.

Other companies involved in this construction include the project’s developer, Orlando-based Unicorp National Developments Inc.; general contractor, Apopka-based Finfrock and Orlando-based HuntonBrady Architects as the architect.

Chuck Whittall, the President of Unicorp National Developments Inc., mentioned that he had secured a $100 million loan from Centennial Bank to begin construction and the project would also become the future headquarters of Unicorp.
