Yesteday marked the groundbreaking for the new County Yard and Delco Lead Storage & Inspection Facility Project located in in New Brunswick NJ. The 500 million dollar project will see the construction of a new one-mile track and a 1,250-foot Service and Inspection Facility, construction of 5 miles of electrified track as well as crew quarters and parking facilities.

Contract Award

The County Yard and Delco Lead Storage & Inspection Facility Project was awarded to George Harms Construction Company, Inc. with funds secured from the Federal Railroad Administration and the Federal Transit Administration. The two contributed US$ 180 million and US$ 184.5 million respectively

The project aims to alleviate the risk of flooding during severe storms so as to ensure continuity of rail services duringthe worst storms thus increasing the reliability of the New Jersey’s rail system.

Present during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new County Yard and Delco Lead Storage & Inspection Facility Project were Senator Cory Booker and Congressman Frank Pallone emphasize the importance of resilience in infrastructure.

NJ TRANSIT Rail System
