A groundbreaking ceremony recently commenced for a High Valley Transit station in Park City, Utah. The project is intended to replace the temporary structure which the organization has been using in Summit County since 2021. But until the new administrative complex is completed, the transit company will continue operating from its temporary structure.

The new High Valley Transit station is being developed on an 8-acre site, located just off Old Highway 40. At the event, the  chairwoman of the company’s board, Kim Carson said the  61,277-square-foot complex would comprise 3 buildings. She said the buildings will be a key factor in their operations and will also help them expand throughout Wasatch Back.

Development plans for the High Valley Transit station

The $26 million High Valley Transit station project will  provide a new permanent administration and maintenance facility. But in addition to this, it features a four-bay maintenance shop consisting of storage areas, vehicle lifts and automatic wash bay. What’s more, a fuel dispensing station and a generator house will also be available on-site. Provision is also being made for 24 full-size transit buses and covered parking for smaller transit vehicles.

Funding for the High Valley Transit station comes from the Rebuilding America’s Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity program. The program began as a result of the bipartisan infrastructure bill signed by President Joe Biden last year. But U.S Senator Mitr Romney and Reps John Curtis played a major role in securing the federal funds for the project. According to Curtis the new transit station would be particularly helpful on big ski days during the Sundance Film Festival. He pointed out that it would help alleviate traffic on popular summer events and make the experience better for guests.

The Big-D Construction company based in Salt Lake City was awarded the High Valley Transit station project in 2022. However, the company will be working alongside GSBS Architects on the development, which is scheduled for delivery by spring 2024.
