Qurayyat Development Company recently launched the Hayy Al Sahil District Project, mixed-use tourism development in the Wilayat area of Muscat, a governorate of the Sultanate of Oman.
According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qurayyat Development Company, Sheikh Hilal Khalid Al Maawali due to the nature of its large size, the Hayy Al Sahil Project will be developed in three phases.
The first phase of the project, the cost of implementation of which is US$ 104M (OMR 40 million) will include the preparation and construction of 400 housing units, a residential-commercial district with a total area of 53,000 m2 as well as a 4-star hotel with 220 hotel rooms that have 100 chalets.
Hayy Al Sahil Project phase 2 and 3
The second phase will be the largest and will include an additional 1,600 residential units, a large mosque on an area of 10,000 m2, and a 3-start hotel featuring 150 rooms. Lastly, the third and final phase will include the construction of 3000 different housing units that range from villas and apartments.Â

This phase will also include the construction of a waterfront that features 36 luxury villas and 180 new rooms in the 3-star hotel. Another 5-star hotel with 200 rooms will also be a part of the third phase.
The entire Hayy Al Sahil Project will cost approximately US$ 1bn which translates to roughly OMR 385 million.Â
Enhancement to tourism and economic development
The Hayy Al Sahil Project reportedly aligns with the government’s plans to enhance tourism as one of its sectors of economic diversification program. The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qurayyat Development Company affirmed that the Hayy Al Sahil Project will contribute significantly to the infrastructure of the country’s tourism.
Sheikh Hilal stated that the project will help position the Wilayat area of Qurayyat as an attractive destination for megaprojects that will benefit everyone; especially the residents of Qurayyat.
