The government of Rajasthan has offered Rs 204.81 crore for the expansion of the Jaipur Metro, which runs from Badi Chaupar to transport Nagar. This is India’s sixth metro rail system right after Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai.

Jaipur metro was initially constructed between 2010 and 2014. The development works were first done on the most elevated part of the line which features a total of 9.63 kilometers (5.98 mi) of the route, running from Mansarovar down to Chadpole Bazaar.

Trial runs were conducted, on 18 September 2013 and it began commercial services on 3 June 2015. In 2020, Phase 1-B began official operations, from Chadpole to Badi Chaupar. The entire line is India’s very first to run on a triple-story elevated road as well as a metro track.

Government of Rajasthan’s funding to cater for Phase-1D implementation of the Jaipur metro expansion project 

According to the Chief Minister of Rajasthan the financial approval is for the construction of the Mansarovar to Ajmer Road intersection Phase-1D.

The development works will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will include the “Pink Line” that connects Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar. The inspiration for the line’s name is said to be because it takes passengers to the Pink City. The second phase on the other hand will involve the construction of “Orange Line”.

The Chief Minister said that the project aims to make Jaipur metro, as a whole, more accessible to people. Morover, it aims to serve as a total transport and road transformation.
