The Juba-Bahr El Ghazal highway was recently inaugurated by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Following the completion of phase one of the tarmac road project by Shandong Highspeed Company in Terekeka County, Central Equatoria State, the President inaugurated phase two of the broader Bahr El Ghazal road project.
The Abyei Administrative Area, Western Bahr El Ghazal, Warrap, and the four neighboring States of Lakes would all profit from the road network. This is according to President Kiir, who stated it will bolster security and promote interstate trade. He was speaking recently during the launch of the 216 km Minkaman-Awerial-Rumbek stretch of road construction in Awerial County of Lakes State.
President Kiir reiterated that he had also toured the Greater Bahr el Ghazal in 2019, adding that he had returned with the same goal of constructing the Juba-Bahr El Ghazal highway. He said that good roads will boost security. According to the President, good roads will make it easier for law enforcement to access trouble spots faster.

He claimed that citizens will be able to carry out business with neighboring towns and localities.
President Kiir also urged the chiefs and communities living around the highway to cooperate with the construction companies. He requested them to also safeguard construction workers.
