A US$ 32m University is set to be constructed by The Oshwal Community, in Thika – Kenya, on a 50 acre piece of land.
The institution which will be named Oshwal University complex will constitute of an administration block, library, laboratories, tuition blocks, offices, common rooms, lecture theatres and an auditorium.
Jayashree Prathap, the acting Principal for Oshwal College confirmed the reports and said that they are already planning to commence on the construction works. She further pointed out that funds to develop the school will come from own cash reserves as well as contribution from donor agencies and financial institutions. They are also seeking loans from within and outside the country.
A campus in the capital city, Nairobi will also be set up in the near future. The community will yet mark another milestone objective for the group’s investments in education facilities.
Oshwal community is a 100-year old charity organisation formed by migrants from India’s Rajasthan State and their descendants.
The Visa Oshwal community owns and operates Oshwal Center, Oshwal schools and colleges, Oshwal library and Oshwal sports complex. The Oshwal University will exist alongside the Oshwal College located in Parklands, Nairobi.
