Lagos State Government has reassured residents along the Lekki-Epe expressway that work will be completed quickly.
Speaking during the inspection of the ongoing project, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the completion of the 18.5 kilometer-road from Epe junction to Eleko within a space of one and half years was a testament to the capacity of her ministry.

Remarks on the Lekki-Epe expressway project
While the Lekki-Epe expressway project is ongoing, Aramide has asked for the cooperation of locals and drivers. She has pledged that the about 16km long second phase of the road project will be completed quickly.
Aramide stated, “You will recall that the road construction work started two years ago, after Mr. Governor’s flag-off ceremony. In just over 1.5 years, phase 1, which covers about 18.5km, was practically 95% finished. Ahead of installation, the whole fleet of street light poles has arrived. Anyone traveling from Epe Junction all the way down to Eleko will notice the road’s transformation. Eleko and Abraham Adesanya are where the second phase begins. The route becomes congested as we approach Lagos, thus our approach for this one will change.”
He further stated, “Additionally, we have chosen to address Awoyaya to Eleko, but certain regions are flat in doing so. The reason motorists are having difficulty in moving is primarily due to their disregard for traffic signs.”
A kilometer to be delivered every month on the Lekki-Epe expressway project
Aramide further clarified, “It is an automated operation, and the contractors are well mobilized and have appropriate equipment. They will deliver a kilometer every month. It’s about performance, and they’ve shown it before. These 16 km stretch won’t be a big deal. Due to the rainy season, we are experiencing some setbacks, but significant construction will start in October.”
“I noticed a number of folks driving one way while others attempted to pass them at a construction zone. This is a poor attitude, and we need our people to change it. The traffic management crew is appreciated, but more has to be done,” he continued.
