A look at “the void”: The Edge’s most significant innovation
The $24 million residential development project in Uruguay, The Edge, is at the forefront of the country’s innovation. Of most significance is the featured “void”. This is the vertical, cone-shaped opening at the center of the building that extends from the ground floor to the ceiling.
This void is covered with handcrafted glass bricks developed by Poesia Glass Studio. The feature allows natural light and warmth to permeate the central areas of the middle units, reducing the need for artificial lighting and heating.
The project’s energy efficiency is largely based on architectural design, which minimizes exposure to southern winds while maximizing sunlight and warmth. Additional features include state-of-the-art heating systems, low-energy lighting, and more.
The Edge in Uruguay and more
This is the developer’s first real estate project in Uruguay. However, there are plans for another luxury condominium in collaboration with Foster + Partners. This will be constructed in the exclusive Punta Ballena area of world-renowned Punta del Este.
“Being the first Foster + Partners project in Uruguay solidifies The Edge as a true landmark in the region, blending world-class architecture with an exclusive location. This project is not merely about real estate; it’s comparable to owning a masterpiece of art – a timeless investment that appreciates in value far beyond the typical market trends. Coupled with Uruguay’s reputation as a safe haven for wealth, with its stability, strong legal protections, and investor-friendly environment, The Edge represents an unparalleled opportunity to secure capital in a tangible, prestigious, and enduring asset.”, Matías Baridon said in an exclusive email statement.
