L&T (Larsen & Toubro) to supply more power in India – West Bengal, and the Middle East – Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Dubai in latest official press release announcement.

L&T order in India and the Middle East

The Indian-based energy company (PT&D) will start off this round of electric power projects locally. West Bengal is set for a revamp to its power distribution system. L&T will put in place “Advanced Distribution Management System”. A technology that apparently makes power distribution “smarter”, and evidently efficient. The smart energy technology will not only incorporate real-time monitoring of medium and low voltage networks, but also their control. This, according to their energy transmission and distribution company, improves the time taken to detect and isolate faults within the transmission and distribution system, allowing for faster rectification of the issues.

Over to the Middle East, L&T’s PT&D will be installing 380kV substation in Saudi Arabia. The facility will be among those used in the handling of solar energy generated within the kingdom. Kuwait is also set to get a power substation that will handle a massive 400kV of power. The intentions for the latter substation are yet to be made public.

Larsen & Toubro will also make power supply deliveries to Dubai in the Middle East. Through PT&D, L&T will install a 400/132kV power substation. Also important to note is that the mentioned substation is among a “set” to be added to Dubai’s power transmission infrastructure.

L&T and other projects

India’s Power Transmission and Distribution (PT&D) is a branching of Larsen & Toubro – a multinational conglomerate. PT&D will deliver the mentioned major projects. The billion-dollar multinational establishment offers a wide range of services. These range from Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) services, to those in the manufacturing sector with Hi-Tech manufacturing among others – in the infrastructure, defense and IT sectors.

Some notable projects undertaken by L&T from around the world include: A National System Control Center in East Africa’s Kenya, work on a 525kV HVDC transmission system connecting NEOM and Yanbu in Saudi Arabia, and the installation of a 275kV substation in Malaysia to improve power supply.

This feat is a testament to what the multisectoral company can achieve, setting a premise no less achievable in its undertakings.
