A $4 million Lux Row Distillery Expansion is scheduled to begin this month in Bardstown, Kentucky. This expansion will enable the company, Lux Row Distillers, to operate 24 hours a day and also increase production rate by about 75% annually. The Lux Row Distillery consists of over 18,000 square feet of warehousing space, housing 10 barrel warehouses at capacity and a 43 foot by 36 inch diameter Vendome Copper & Brass Company copper column still. The company intends to expand this distillery to ensure that it will be able to distill more than 50,000 barrels of whiskey each year.
John Rempe, the Lux Row Master Distiller, was excited about the benefits of this expansion and shed more light on the company’s vision. Rempe mentioned that the groundbreaking of the Lux Row Distillery six years ago, was as a result of the company’s desire to grow their brands and service, to suit their needs and terms. He also pointed out that the Lux Row Distillery Expansion symbolizes a new chapter in the company’s evolution which will aid in meeting the growing demand for their products. Rempe added, “I’m truly excited to see what possibilities open up when expansion is completed.”

Lux Row Distillery will continue tours throughout construction
The company also stated that the Lux Row distillery will continue working at full capacity throughout the construction process. All construction work on the Lux Row Distillery will take place behind the scenes and will not affect the tours or any other aspects of guest experiences. Over the past years, Lux Row Distillery has become a well known landmark and popular attraction on the famed Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which has attracted over 14,000 visitors for tours and tastings. Rempe said, “On average, each visitor tastes about three of our products – we are thrilled to have poured more than 42,000 samples of bourbon in the last year.”
The Lux Row Distillery Expansion project is expected to be completed by late 2022 and Lux Row will make use of some of the companies that took part in building the distillery at the initial stages of development. Some of these companies include the Joseph & Joseph architectural firm and Bardstown-based Buzick Construction as the general contractor for the project.
