Developed in partnership with Putprop Limited, the Mamelodi Square centre will be a single-level enclosed mall spanning over 16,000m2.

The Mamelodi Square Centre site, which is located just off Tsamaya Road in Mamelodi, Gauteng, was formerly a PUTCO bus depot. Mamelodi Square will make use of its ideal location in the heart of Mamelodi’s more wealthy districts to provide the local population with easy and necessary shopping.

So far, confirmed establishments and businesses include Shoprite, Capitec Bank, Clicks, KFC, Power Fashion, and the Pepkor group. Additional businesses are sure to join in soon and become a part of the centre once it is complete.

McCormick is pleased to be able to serve shoppers with convenience while simultaneously generating jobs.

Approximately 420 local labour jobs are projected to be created during the centre’s construction phase. In addition to this, an additional 950 permanent jobs opportunities are predicted once the centre is complete and operational.

Jason McCormick, managing director of McCormick Property Development, stated that one of the company’s primary aims as developers has always been to put the community first. As a result, Mamelodi Square was designed with this objective in mind.

The project looks forward to improving the livelihoods of the residents of Mamelodi and the local communities. This is achievable through the creation of employment opportunities and the upskilling of local contractors and entrepreneurs that the Mamelodi Square centre is guaranteed to contribute towards.

“In this way, we will be a step closer to our goal of building a better and brighter future for the youth while staying true to our desire to provide convenient and accessible retail to all.” Jason further stated.

The mall’s construction is scheduled to take around 15 months, with an opening date of late 2022.
