Construction of a new Mayfair mixed-use project is set to begin soon following the assignment of a contract to McLaren Construction Group. The company won the US$75 million contract earlier today for the seven storey structure designed by Foster & Partners. It will be located on the corner of New Bond Street and Grafton Street in the West End of London. Additionally, the 58,000 square foot structure will feature a complex three-storey basement. The construction company, who won the contract from O&H Properties, will use a top-down construction for this section in order to make the best use of time, money and safety benefits.

Details on the Mayfair Mixed-Use structure by McLaren

McLaren, however, only won the contract for the first phase of the landmark retail development which involves the lower ground, ground and first floor retail space. Moreover, they will construct five storeys of office and event space above. The design of the structure includes a striking precast concrete and brick face. There are curved triple-glazed bay windows and a zinc shingle roof. The company will cast the central section of the ground floor slab. This will enable the cores to be constructed at the same time. All the while, excavation down and casting the basement floor slabs and linear walls will also take place.
