The Mesa City Council has finally approved the construction of AirPark 202, a 1.5 million-square-foot industrial park, after making some changes to the project zoning, along with some amendments to the site plans and development standards. This project’s site  is located on the northern part of Loop 202 and the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, in the Southeast corner of Sossaman and Warner Roads in Mesa.

The AirPark 202 project will be developed on 100 acres of land in The Valley, which is  one of the nation’s industrial hotspots.  According to the  proposals submitted to the Mesa City council,  the developers, LaPour Partners and Scottsdale Investment Management, intend to make a $150 million investment for the construction of this industrial park. They also stated that the goal of this project was to provide enough industrial space to meet up with the  rapidly increasing demand from e-commerce companies, and  local/ regional manufacturing market firms, servicing the growing East Valley population that are looking into  either relocation or the expansion of their operations.

AirPark 202 will be built as a class A industrial park, comprising six buildings and according to Ed Grant,  the executive vice president of Scottsdale Investment Management, these buildings will make room available for industrial use, warehousing, manufacturing and logistics operations.

Grant said,”It’s very exciting to get Mesa’s endorsement of AirPark 202, and we look forward to quickly delivering one of the Valley’s premier business parks.”

The developers have enlisted the services of Ware Malcomb as the project’s architect. A structural engineering firm from Arizona, TLCP Structural Inc. will be the engineering firm in charge of the construction. Another engineering firm from Seattle, Sazan Group will  handle the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work on the project. The landscape architecture will be overseen by Studio DPA, a planning and landscape architectural firm based in Phoenix, Arizona.

Over the years, Phoenix has constantly experienced an industrial boom and now The AirPark 202 project will also be noted as part of the industrial development in a region, contributing 9.0 percent to the existing stock, which is higher than any U.S major market.
