Morocco will tender for the construction of three new gas turbine power plants with a combined capacity of 300 to 450 megawatts. One plant will be built in Kenitra in the southwest, and the others in Mohammedia in the west and Ain Bani Mathar in the east. According to recent local media reports, the projects will be commissioned by summer 2026. The initiative falls within the context of Morocco’s general strategy to enhance its clean sources of energy and ensure long-term energy supply security. Furthermore, it aims to provide accessible energy for all.

The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) will oversee the contracts for the design, construction, equipment, and operation of the facilities. Morocco’s gas turbine power plants aim to meet the country’s growing energy demands and support its industrialization. As the nation continues to modernize its energy infrastructure, the plants will ensure a reliable source of energy.
