The contractor

Speaking at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in which the contract was approved, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), said that it would be awarded to Dangote Group, a Nigerian multinational industrial conglomerate.

The concrete roads in Nigeria project whose cost is estimated at US$ 754M will be financed by the Dangote Group under the Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.

The Scheme, implemented in 2019, seeks to encourage Public-Private Partnership intervention in the construction or/and refurbishment of road infrastructure projects in the West African Country. The private participants of the Scheme provide the funds for the construction or/and refurbishment projects and in exchange, they are entitled to recoup the funds provided, as a credit against Companies Income Tax to be paid.

Other road projects undertaken under the scheme

The Apapa Wharf Road, the Oworonsoki to Apapa, through Oshodi Road, and the Obajana-Kabba Road projects which were carried out by Dangote Group as well as the Bodo-Bonny bridges and road are some of the road infrastructure projects in Nigeria implemented under the Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.
