Maiduguri Airport in Nigeria is set to undergo reconstruction2 years after it was shut down over terrorism fears.
Kashim Shetima, the Borno State Governor, commended the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for taking up the step of reconstructing the airport which is expected to stimulate the State’s economy activities.
The reconstruction process of Maiduguri Airport in Nigeria is expected to be completed soon wearing rejuvenated new looks ready to serve the people of Borno State and even those from outside the state as the terror fear fades away in the state.
Several renovation and expansion activities of airports are ongoing across Nigeria with a goal of improving the airports that will ease congestion. The projects are expected to be completed in due time and at the end provide the best services to their customers.
So far, Nigeria has managed to complete several renovation works on several airports in the country which are the International Terminal (MMIA), the Kaduna Airport terminal, the General Aviation Terminal Murtala Muhammed Airport, (MMIA), the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, (international terminal), the Margaret Ekpo International Airport Terminal, the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, (domestic terminal), the Calabar airport, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport terminal, Port Harcourt International Airport Terminal (domestic terminal), the Sam Mbakwe airport terminal the Yola Airport terminal and the Benin Airport terminal.
Additional new international terminal is currently under construction at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The project aims at turning the airport into a major regional hub given that modern state of-the-art screening machines will be installed capable of detect explosive materials and potential threat items with the lowest rate of false alarm. Also additional 30 Immigration counters.
