The proposed national coastal road construction project in Nigeria has commenced. The road construction project begins from Epe in Lagos State stretching to the Nigerian border with the Camerouns. The aim of the road construction project is to advance the country’s road networks according to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chief Dan Abia.
During a news conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, the minister also said that President Goodluck Jonathan had directed the commission to complete all outstanding road construction projects within shortest possible time.
“There is a road linking coastal communities in Delta up to Ondo, in fact, the managing director was there a few weeks back to inspect ongoing work on the project,” he stated.
The road construction project is expected to reduce the distance between the coastal areas of the country.
Nigeria was also undertaking other road construction projects such as the East-West Road, which was now 90% complete as previously reported.
