Lagos State Government has commenced the construction of the Abule-Egba flyover in Nigeria. The state government has directly engaged stakeholders towards the projects’ successful completion.

While addressing the stakeholders on the construction of the Abule-Egba flyover on Thursday at Abule Egba area in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, assured the government focus on addressing the perennial traffic problem especially in Lagos through the provision of good roads.

He further stated that more inner roads will be open to ease the traffic flow and minimize the hardship people will go through during the construction of the flyover. On completion the flyover project is expected to solve the persistent traffic on Abule-Egba axis.

The project is however, a grade separation system that will consist of 2-lane dual carriageway reinforced concrete Flyover and additional 2-lane roads on both sides at grade with signalized intersection.

The project has been long overdue despite the State’s Executive Council approval, however, the project has been awarded to contractors for a speedy commencement of work. The contractor has already commenced the construction with the surface dressing on alternative routes to be used by the motorists.

Craneburg Construction Ltd, the contractors handling the project have been urged to patronize the local suppliers for materials that will be required as well as employing both skilled and unskilled labour for the project as a one way to employ the youths and empower the residents.

However, the residents are urged to endure the inconvenience caused by the construction of the project. The bridge will not only serve the people of Ifako-Ijaiye, Alimosho, and Agege Federal Constituencies but also the people from Sango, Otta and Abeokuta in Ogun State will as well benefit from the project.
