Nordic community builder, Peab, will be building a new nursing home in Vårgårda municipality in Sweden for $26 million (SEK 268 million). This will add the municipality’s nursing homes number to three. The new nursing home by Peab in Vårgårda municipality will also be built adjacent to Kullingshemmet, one of the existing facilities. This comes as official statistics project a 23% rise in Sweden’s elderly population by 2040. The current figures stand at 10.5 million elderly persons.

What to expect of the nursing home
The 100 apartment units and common areas to be constructed by Peab have been designed with the residents’ welfare and well-being in mind. As aforementioned, the new nursing home in Vårgårda municipality will be adjacent to another. Included in development plans is the partial demolition of the Kullingshemmet nursing home to make more room for the new facility.
The turnkey project will take place in two phases with construction of the new nursing home in Vårgårda starting immediately. Peab estimates Vårgårda nursing home completion date to be in 2029.
This, as put by the municipality’s Project Manager, Anthon Borg, is a project building a “new home where both residents and staff will thrive”.
The Nordic construction company will indeed see to a safe, modern, and private elderly establishment. This was also echoed by Peab’s Regional Manager, Andreas D’Arienzo in a statement made along with the announcement. “We’re very pleased to be able to start construction of Vårgårda’s new nursing home.
