Morocco’s very own National Roads Company is set to dedicate 3.2 billion dirhams to improve Alawi Kingdom’s roads and highways. Autorute Du Maroc (ADM) will also be carrying out several repairs that are needed on Moroccan roads, covering 87 kilometers by the end of the year.
The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, officially announced the approval of plans to upgrade and improve Morocco’s highways. The budget was approved by the board of directors of the Moroccan National Roads Company. Additionally, the project is coupled to achieve a 2% increase in traffic. The Moroccan firm plays the role of playing a major role in managing well over 1,400 kilometers of both Alawi Kingdom’s Roads & Highways as well as for the whole country.
Suscription to Jawaz
The project also aims to entice drivers to subscribe to Jawaz, a pre-payment method that lets drivers, or rather users, drive on the roads and pass through toll gates without having to park and pay again. As some sort of benefit, the project aims to give subscribers of Jawaz their dedicated lanes.
Upgrading of Casablanca-Berrechid motorway
The main works will be focused on the Casablanca-Berrechid motorway and the Casablanca bypass motorway. It will involve the widening of the 2×3 roads covering a length of 60 kilometers from the Mohammedia junction to the Berrechid motorway junction, through the Lissasfa junction. Being and having a reputation for one of the busiest motorways in the Kingdom, an upgrade to its facilities would, undoubtedly, be key to relieving traffic congestion in the area. The project also involves the construction of a new road linking the towns Tit Mellil and Berrechid. Other works involved in the plans to improve Alawi Kingdom’s Roads and Highways involve:
- Installation of beams on the second TEMARA interchange flyover on the Casablanca-Rabat axis.
- Metal deck installation on the railway bridge near Mohammed V International Airport.
