Why a housing redevelopment project in Glasgow
Also worth mentioning is that the stated performance indicators for the Redevco redevelopment scheme in Glasgow indicate improved “social value”. This is after a Local Needs Analysis was completed in 2023. Five integral areas looked at include:
- growth of healthier and more resilient communities
- promotion of local skills and employment
- growth of more responsible businesses
- strive for a decarbonized world
- and, the enabling of social innovation
The five areas are not new to UK property and real-estate development companies and their projects. They find their base in UK’s National Social Value Measurement Framework – one that has seen a behind-the-curtain appearance in most public and private projects in the UK.
Much has been said of the project. Mentioned as a “transformative” housing scheme, the 391 sustainable BTR units in Glasgow are expected to address the housing issues in the area. The project will also improve the urban living area to a “more sustainable and liveable” one as put by Redevco’s Deputy COO, Chris Fleetwood.
