Work has officially begun on the redevelopment of the Ashley Mar Housing Co-operative in South Vancouver. As part of the redevelopment project a total of three towers: a 16-story co-op tower, a 27-story, and a 32-story market rental housing tower will be constructed.
These three buildings will house a total of 649 residences. They will include 125 co-ops that are categorized as social housing because of their below-market rates. Additionally, there will be 524 market rental homes. Over the 54 co-op units previously on site, this amounts to a net gain of 71 co-op units.

The co-op chose local developer Intracorp Homes seven years ago to undertake a renovation that renews its co-op homes, replacing the old, low-story buildings erected in 1983 that were in poor condition. The project’s joint venture partner with Intracorp is Toronto-based Oxford Properties. The design was created by the architectural company Perkins & Will.
“The collaborative visioning with Oxford, Ashley Mar, and our Intracorp team has been a key component of our endeavor. We were able to put together such a special project because of the co-support op as well as Oxford’s dedication to providing Vancouver with high-quality, expertly managed rental houses, according to Evan Allegretto, president of Intracorp’s BC business.
