Construction of a new 1.2 GW wind project is set to begin soon in Romania undertaken by Eurowind Energy Romania. The project will be located in northern Botosani County. Furthermore Eurowind Energy have announced that they aim to complete the project by 2031. The entire project will be constructed in phases, with a total of nine wind farms. They will be distributed across nine communes and have a total of 1200 MW installed capacity. In total, the required investment for the project is estimated to be more than US$1 billion.

Details on the 1.2 GW Eurowind Energy project in Romania
The developers have already completed the preceding steps that are required to undertake this project. This includes securing land rights, submitting the grid connection application and obtaining initial urban planning certification. The next step for the project is holding discussions with local communities, authorities and other relevant stakeholders. Further, Eurowind Energy will be able to complete the final design for the project and select specific technology that will be used on the wind farms.

While the project is still in its early stages, the potential impact is significant,” Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Eurowind Energy Romania, stated. “With an estimated total investment exceeding one billion euros, this wind farm complex could not only strengthen Romania’s renewable energy capacity but also enable the country to become a major energy exporter in the region,” he added.
Other Eurowind Energy projects in Romania
This wind project is not the first energy project that the company has undertaken in Romania. Currently, the company is working on a solar park in Alba County named the Teius that will have a capacity of 60.2 MW. Additionally, the Pecineaga wind farm in Constanta county with a capacity of 48 MW is also under construction. The Botosani Wind project will position the country as a potential major regional exporter of renewable energy.
