Construction works for the Sanvira Coke Calcined Project in Oman have successfully reached completion. The project is a part of the country’s strategy for encouraging new developments.

The Sanvira Coke Calcined project in Oman will significantly contribute to the production of calcinated petroleum coke. The coke will then be used by industrial sectors all around the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The project’s construction works were carried out by Johnson Arabia. In 2022, Johnson Arabia won the ‘Lifting Achievement of the Year award at the Construction Machinery Middle East Awards.

For the facility, the company managed to successfully install the roofing as well as set the steel structure erection. A range of boom lifts played a vital role in the project’s construction. More especially the 28-meter straight booms for the steel structure erection and roofing installation.

Additionally, a combination of the 28-meter booms, 16-meter, and 15-meter booms alongside scissor lifts were utilized for the inside structure works. The scissor lifts had the impressive capability of holding well up to six people inside alongside fire and safety equipment as well as tools.

Remarks on the project

The Sales Manager of Johnson Arabia in Oman spoke about the project. Sean Kenny said that Sanvira Coke Calcined project in Oman was a new site that received its very first equipment. The sales manager also revealed that the nature of the work for the project was MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).

The facility is Oman’s very first petroleum coke calcining (CPC) project set within the Shar Freezone. With a total investment value of well up to $150million, it will contribute to the petroleum coke (pet coke) industry significantly. Furthermore, the project will also contribute towards reducing dependence on calcined coke imports.
