Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor project is 75% complete. This was recently revealed by the Roads and Transport Authority, commonly known as RTA. RTA is the major independent government roads & transportation authority in Dubai.

Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor extends from the intersection of Dubai to the intersection of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road. It passes along Ras Al Khor road at the Al Ain road, covering a distance of 8 kilometers. The Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor project involves the widening of the Ras Al Khor road from three to four lanes in each direction. In addition, a 2-kilometer bridge with a two-lane service road on both sides is being constructed. 

Moreover, the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor project features the improvement of the intersection of Nad Al Hamar road with Ras Al Khor road. A two-lane bridge, extending 988 meters will be built. The bridge will enable free left-side turns of inbound traffic from Nad Al Hamar road down towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed road. This will further enhance the road’s capacity to 30,000 vehicles per hour.

Expectations for the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor Project

The director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors spoke about the project. Mattar Al Tayer said that the project aims to increase the vehicle capacity of Ras Al Khor road to 10,000 cars per hour. In addition, the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor project also aims to slashes the travel time from 20 to approximately 7 minutes. Moreover, it will enhance the traffic flow and safety as well as eliminate the current overlapping traffic sports.

Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Corridor project will serve an array of major development projects. These projects include the Dubai Creek, Al Wasl, The Lagoons, Meydan Horizon, and Nad Al Hamar Complex. Reportedly, the aforementioned projects accommodate well over 650,000 residents.
