Several health facilities in South Africa are set to be construction aimed at enhancing Healthcare 2030 which aims at providing high-quality health facilities at district hospital and primary healthcare level.
The USD2M emergency centres at Stellenbosch Hospital will include a triage waiting, triage rooms, a new ambulance canopy, staff areas, a new outpatient department and stores. Additionally, the parking areas, entrance, external public spaces and sidewalks will also be upgraded, and a roofed walkway will be stretched to the main hospital entrance.
Up on completion, the healthy facility will offer a 24-hour emergency service. In total, 15% of the contract value will go to targeted enterprises, 7% will go to suppliers and manufacturers while 8% to local labour.
Community day centers are being put up in Wolseley and Prince Alfred Hamlet in the Witzenberg Municipality at a total cost of R31 million and R25 million respectively. The centres will offer a wide range of primary healthcare services for rehabilitation and therapy, as well as for mother and baby care. They will also have pharmacies, dental surgeries, plus specialized chronic and infectious disease units.
External works will include a number of hard and soft landscape features, in addition to a small amount of parking. In total10% of the contract value will go to the targeted enterprises, 7% to manufacturers and suppliers and 8% to local labour. The two projects will also create room for Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) work opportunities for 13 youth, six women and one person with disability.
