The Radisson RED Johannesburg Rosebank in Johannesburg’s vibrant Rosebank district has officially opened its doors. Tim Cordon, area senior vice president, Middle east and Africa at Radisson Hotel Group officiated the ceremony.

“We are very happy to present Radisson RED in Johannesburg. This city is perfect for all aspects of the brand, as they both have a distinctly infectious energy and honor the city’s locals by celebrating their unique art, fashion and music,” said Mr. Cordon.

The Radisson RED Johannesburg Rosebank features, situated at Oxford Parks is a part of a mixed-use area comprising apartments, retailers, restaurants, and offices. The hotel is a few minutes’ walk from the Gautrain station and the high-end retail and shopping precinct, which includes Rosebank Mall.

Hotel’s design

This is the first Radisson RED hotel in Gauteng, South Africa and the second to hit African soil after the opening of its Capetonian counterpart in 2017. It features 222 standard rooms and suites inspired by local art, music, fashion, and people.

The hotel also houses a prominent angel-wing sculpture called “The Mundane and the Mystical” by leading South African artist, Usha Seejarim Other design features include custom-made African printed wallpaper for each layer and rotating street-style art display cabinets, and high-tech additions like an interactive digi-wall and Chromecast televisions in each room.

The Rooftop Bar and Terrace have been designed with an all-day dining outlet OUI Bar + KTCHN offering a mix of local and international cuisines. The property also features six meeting studios ranging from 20 to 120 in capacity. In addition to this, a reading room workspace is available for remote workers. The hotel will host cultural programmes including regular musical showcases and exhibitions by local performers and artists.

“South Africa is still Radisson Hotel Group’s main market in Africa, and we are very proud that with the opening of this hotel, our portfolio in South Africa includes 14 hotels in operation and 2 hotels under construction.
