The Department of Health in South Africa is planning to set up about 43 state-of-the-art Hospitals across the country in the next five years. In addition to that, the department will also construct 216 clinics and renovate 816 old hospitals across the country.

According to the Minister of Health in South Africa Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, the state-of-the-art hospitals would be constructed in order to accomplish the National Health Insurance (NHI) mission. These state-of-the-art hospitals would also be built in the rural areas so that the public can access good quality health services.

Motsoaledi also noted that these new facilities will be equipped with advanced technology so that doctors do not have any excuses as to why they will not be going to rural areas. One of the components installed at the newly opened Dr Harry Surtie Hospital is the Lodox Machine- Xray scanner, which was invented in South Africa.

The government of South Africa’s has also opened Dr Harry Surtie Hospital in Upington, recently. The US $0.09bn hospital was formally opened by President Jacob Zuma.

This facility, which serves half of the Northern Cape also helped create more than 200 different kinds of jobs for residents of the region and its environs.

The MEC of Public Works in South Africa, David Rooi, also noted that women contractors were allowed to participate in the construction of the state-of-the-art hospital in Upington.
