The classroom block at St. Peter’s Primary School in Poase Takoradi, part of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, in the Western Region of Ghana, has been refurbished. Vivo Energy Ghana financed the project which cost US$ 19,047.  Additionally, the business gave the school garbage bins, teachers’ desks, bookshelves, ceiling fans, and classroom desks.

Vivo Energy Ghana’s managing director, Mr. Kader Maiga, said the organization was committed to furthering education and preserving the environment. He mentioned that Ghana would participate in the annual International Literacy Day celebration in September with the theme “Transforming literacy learning spaces,”.

This would give people a chance to rethink the fundamental importance of literacy learning. Similarly, it will build resilience, and ensure quality equitable, and inclusive education for all.

Remarks on St Peter’s primary school classroom block

“As a company, this is significant to us because we see it as a group effort to convert learning environments, like St. Peter’s Primary School, into secure and safe spaces for learning.

“Our desire to invest in the areas where we operate goes beyond just corporate strategy. Most importantly, it is based on the tangible results and the knowledge that we are growing alongside our communities. And also doing our share as a responsible corporate organization. In conclusion, the renovation of the school is a testament to our commitment to the development of our communities,” Mr. Maiga said.

Kwabena Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister, applauded Vivo Energy Ghana for working with stakeholders to rehabilitate the St. Peters classroom block.

“Their efforts in the area of education are outstanding and beneficial for the preparation of the New Takoradi’s future leaders”.

Vivo Energy has received appreciation from Assifuah Kuma IV, the chief of Poase New Takoradi, for helping to advance education. He promised that the chiefs would work with all parties involved to develop Poase New Takoradi.
