Houston-based clean energy firm Diligence Offshore Services has partnered with U.S.-based floating solar manufacturer AccuSolar to develop the Pleasure Island Power Collective in Texas. This large-scale hybrid renewable project will integrate floating solar, onshore wind, battery storage, and a data center powered entirely by clean energy.
Large-Scale Hybrid Facility
Planned across 2,275 acres on Pleasure Island and Sabine Lake near Port Arthur, the facility will feature a 391 MW floating solar array designed and manufactured by AccuSolar, a 225 MW coastal onshore wind farm, and a utility-scale battery storage system. The project marks one of the first U.S. developments to combine floating solar and coastal wind generation at this scale. Texas has seen more hybrid solar and wind power projects coming up. In June 2024 Ørsted completed the construction of the 518 MW Helena Energy Center ,Texas which combines power from the 268 MW Helena Wind Farm and the 250 MW Sparta Solar Farm.
Powering a Data Center for Adaptive Superintelligence
In addition to renewable energy production, the site will host a cutting-edge data center dedicated to adaptive superintelligence. The center will be powered exclusively by the clean electricity generated on-site, highlighting a new model for sustainable data infrastructure.
Local Support and Land Lease
In March 2025, the Port Arthur City Council approved an agreement with Diligence Offshore Services LLC to lease more than 2,000 acres on Pleasure Island for the installation of wind and solar facilities. The project also includes 15 wind turbines in Sabine Lake, which will contribute to the overall 225 MW wind capacity.
Strategic Impact
The Pleasure Island Power Collective represents a milestone in hybrid renewable development in Texas. By integrating floating solar with onshore wind and storage, the project aims to provide consistent, large-scale clean energy while powering advanced computing applications. It underscores the growing interest in hybrid systems as a way to maximise renewable output and support high-energy-demand operations like data centers.
