The groundbreaking of The Great Wolf Lodge Water Park in Jackson, Tennessee is expected to commence in Q3 of 2022. The Jackson’s planning commission approved the initial plans for the new indoor water park attraction. The Great Wolf Lodge company, which is a series of family resorts and indoor water parks that operates all year long, with branches in various parts of the United States, has set its sights on Jackson for its first location in Tennessee.
The deal, which was announced earlier in the year, ended up having its $20 million state grant withdrawn due to the pandemic. But in spring, Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee, infused a $20 million incentive package into the state’s budget to help with The Great Wolf Lodge Water Park Project. According to Kyle Spurgeon, the CEO of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the original $150 million construction costs of the project may change due to the rising construction costs.

The Great Wolf Lodge Water Park project is likely to be developed at Tiger Jones Industrial Park behind Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex, as the company is presently on the verge of purchasing the approximately 40-acre plot bordering the Exit 85 TIF district. Development plans for the project include a 450 room family resort and parking lots accommodating up to 118 employees and 765 guests. In addition, a road linking the site to one of the main roads will be built by the city, as part of this development.
Jobs at the Great Wolf Lodge Water Park
Construction of Great Wolf Lodge Water Park is expected to create up to 500 jobs, while another 500 jobs will be created upon completion of the project. Developers expect that this new attraction will bring up to 500,000 new visitors to Jackson annually; thereby, making the area a major destination for tourists, as it is positioned at an advantageous location between Nashville and Memphis. The Great Wolf Lodge also pointed out that the region is an area of interest to them and they would utilize it in seeking opportunities to bring the Great Wolf Lodge indoor waterpark resort to more families.
