The construction of the Tiger Brennan Drive overpass in Australia is well underway. This is despite its construction costs skyrocketing from $60 million to $128 million.Â
Sitzler, a highly regarded Australian construction company delivering “quality projects in an environmentally and socially conscious manner”, has been appointed to carry out the project.
Jointly funded by the Federal Government and the Northern Territory, the Tiger Brennan Drive overpass project includes drainage, asphalt, and earthworks. Additionally, it will consist of the construction of pavement alongside line marking, street lighting, and road safety barriers.
The project is being carried out in a staged manner to minimize inconvenience to motorists. It is expected to be delivered over the next two years, supporting 150 jobs at the peak of construction.
Aim for the Tiger Brennan Drive overpass project
The project aims to address congestion as well as essential safety. It also aims to reduce traffic delays, especially during peak hours. Reportedly, Tiger Brenna Drive serves up to a total number of 20,000 commuters in a day. Conclusively, multiple fatalities, as well as crashes on the popular route, have been credited to the road’s congestion.

Tiger Brennan Drive overpass will therefore separate the major flow of traffic on the road. As a result, a continuous flow of traffic along Tiger Brennan Drive will be enabled and the fatalities and crashes will be reduced significantly.
Moreover, the project aims to shorten travel times as well as improve connectivity, especially for the transport of freight to the East Arm Wharf.
The Federal Minister for Infrastructure spoke about the project. Catherine King confidently assured that the Federal Government believed in the development of the Northern Territory.
