It is said that the Begonia Field is in water depth that ranges between 400 meters and 750 meters.

A subsea-to-subsea tieback to an already existing FPSO unit will be used in the Begonia Project to collect hydrocarbons from a reservoir.

All EPSCI services, including subsea umbilicals, water injection, as well as production flowlines, will be provided by McDermott.

A multiphase production flowline, of about 12 miles (20 km) in length, links the three production wells together. The back of an existing riser is connected to the two water injection wells.

McDermott will make use of its diverse fleet of specialty marine construction vessels.

The Amazon will install the rigid pipelines using its technology, and world class J-lay pipeline system, while the North Ocean 102 will install the umbilicals.

The Begonia Project is McDermott’s first underwater project in Angola. This is according to Mahesh Swaminathan, senior vice president of subsea and deepwater. He continued by saying that it supports their aim to grow their footprint in Africa.

Begonia Project impacts on the locals

Throughout the project, McDermott wants to make the most of local suppliers and subcontractors as well as train people to develop a workforce in the area.

McDermott teams in London and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will undertake the project management and engineering.

Also, the fabrication will be carried out locally in Angola, Southern Africa.

McDermott is a top-tier, totally integrated supplier of construction. It also offers engineering solutions to the energy industry.

The next generation of the world’s energy infrastructure is driven by McDermott’s creative expertise and capabilities from concept to commissioning, enabling a better, more sustainable future for all.
