A new Ujams industrial wastewater treatment plant will be constructed by Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies of South Africa, at a price of US$ 12.89m, and will be located at the Windhoek’s North Industrial Zone near the country’s capital.
The project will help enhance waste water treatment in the industrial zone.
Ujams industrial wastewater treatment plant will treat up to 5000m3 of wastewater per day for re use and irrigation. The plant will be one of the City’s key water infrastructure projects that are lined up that comply with the country’s new water regulations.
According to the MD of Veolia Gunter Rencken, the new wastewater treatment plant will be designed to help accommodate additional effluent from future industrial developments. The plant will also enable screening and de-gritting of incoming water before it goes into the latest generation membrane bio-reactor system.
In addition, the new Ujams industrial wastewater treatment plant allows water to be disinfected with Ultra violet treatment before being released from the plant and various treatment areas are hooked to an odor removal process.
Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies will work alongside VA Tech Wabagin to design, build, install and commission the wastewater treatment plant.
Ujams Wastewater Treatment Company will be the sole operator and maintainer of the plant for 21 years.
