More on the Tung-Hsiao Power Plant

Taiwan has a clear objective of transitioning to greener energy and has strived to achieve this through projects such as the Tung-Hsiao Power Plant. The second-stage renewal plays a key role in this goal through the delivery of natural gas with an annual capacity of 2.3 million tonnes. This is crucial to meet the growing demand for power but also enhances the country’s energy security.

The Tung-Hsiao Combined Cycle Power plant will be a 1,857.6 MW gas fired power project once completed. At the moment, the active capacity of the project stands at 1093.2 MW. What’s more, the project was commissioned in 1983 and is fully owned by Taiwan Power. Among the key contractors who have been involved in the project is GE Power who have provided most of the power gas turbines for the project.
