USA Gymnastics announced on Tuesday, Sept. 23 that it has chosen Noblesville, Indiana, as the site for a new Training and Wellness Center and the organization’s future headquarters, marking one of the most significant investments in the sport since the program’s relocation to Indianapolis nearly four decades ago.

The new facility will be built in Innovation Mile, a near 600-acre subzone located north of Indianapolis and being developed as a sports, research-and-technology park. The facility will serve as a training base for national team athletes with space for youth development programs, educational workshops, and community outreach activities.

The scale of the project would depend on the success of a fund-raising campaign the governing body is launching. A 2026 groundbreaking and 2028 opening are projected.

We are excited to announce that Noblesville will be the future site of the Training and Wellness Center,” USA Gymnastics President and CEO Li Li Leung stated. “This facility will be the center and hub of the sport of gymnastics in America.”.

The project comes at the time of greatest international profile for the sport of gymnastics. The United States women’s artistic team has captured the last seven World Championship titles and is the reigning Olympic team champion. Officials say the new headquarters is at the center of Indiana Sports Corp’s “Vision 2050” plan, which would see Indiana as the sports world center and as the “women’s sports capital of the world” in particular.

Huge victory for Indiana

For Noblesville, the news is a huge victory. “Noblesville is thrilled to see USA Gymnastics’ new HQ locate at Innovation Mile,” Mayor Chris Jensen said. He added that the center would be training Olympic-level athletes as well as serving the general public.

Support for the project extended beyond city officials. Olympic gold medalist in 1996 Jaycie Phelps now runs a gymnastics center in neighboring Greenfield and called the announcement “amazing.” A year-round training facility, she added, would be beneficial for top gymnasts as well as the local programs.

Athletes are currently reliant on a mix of facilities across the country for training camps. Alex Renkert, chair of USA Gymnastics’ Athletes’ Council, termed the concept of a home “incredibly special.”.

Outside of sports, Indiana is drawing major new investments, with the latest coming from OpenAI, which is considering the state for a 1-gigawatt data center.

Capacity

Training and Wellness Center will host national team camps and competitions in all of the arts, such as artistic, rhythmic, trampoline and tumbling, acrobatic, parkour and “gymnastics for all.” It will be a complement to The Arena at Innovation Mile, a just-opened 4,000-seat multisport arena already home to the Noblesville Boom, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers.

Noblesville was the winning bid after USA Gymnastics reviewed bids from more than a dozen metropolitan areas nationwide.
