New plans have been put in place and approved by the Bullhead City council, for the construction of a multimodal BullHead City transit operations hub, which will cater for the expanding transportation system in Bullhead city. The Bullhead Area Transit System, popularly known as BATS is intended to provide more established bus route services or transit services around Bullhead city in the state of Arizona.

This proposed BullHead City transit operations hub facility will be built at the intersection of Hoppas Drive and Alona’s Way, located at the southwest region of the city. This site which is located next to the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor division office, near the Bullhead city’s public works department was selected ahead of three other sites. The cost of executing the project is estimated at 3.5 million dollars, most of which will be funded from the federal, regional or state grants.

The BullHead City transit operations hub has been in the preparatory stages for the last seven years, but was stalled due to the outbreak of the Covid19 virus. To kick start the project after the pandemic, the Bullhead city council has authorized the application for capital funding of $350,000 for the design of the facility to commence.

The new facility will be built with features such as a vehicle storage area as well as, a string of maintenance bays located on the exterior, which would be used for work on the buses. There will also be a transit administrative office and an office for customer service staff.

CivTech a consulting engineering firm was contracted to develop both a three year and a fifteen-year plan, with the aim of evaluating previous Bullhead Area Transit System services and also identifying the exigency to strengthen or improve service in the community. The plan will also look into the development of processes, for transforming from a rural transportation system to a municipal transportation system. The Bullhead city council has also authorized a sum of $150,000 CivTech.
