The Elkhart County Redevelopment Commission approved a multi-million dollar infrastructure and facility improvement package that will enable the possible construction of the largest building in Indiana. Highway 17 was selected as one of the potential landing sites for a $ 200 million logistics facility with a high level of automation and the potential to create more than 1,000 jobs in the area. The site development includes the construction of an industrial highway that would connect County Highway 19. to County Road 17, the extension of the utility lines along the freeway, and the construction of a roundabout at the current toll road entrance at County Road 17, which would also serve as the entry and exit of the site.

The logistics center and new highway would also open additional acres north of the property and additional acres east of County Road 19 for future development. in the county, last year as boat and RV builders and their suppliers looked for new space to expand production and keep pace with demand.
“Everyone knows there is a labor shortage, but we are attracting people from an ever-increasing number of people. A company wouldn’t look here if workers were a big concern, ”said Yoder.
