The signature tower known as the Google Tower in Austin, has recently topped out at 590 feet and construction work on the building continues, as it gradually nears its maximum height of 594 feet.

The 35-story high Google Tower is unique to Austin’s skyline, with its iconic boat-like design which is even more prominent, as it stands next to Lady Bird Lake. Vertical construction of the building is now complete and all the required floors have been put in place, with most of the  building already covered with glass.

Located at Block 185, 601 W. Second Street in Downtown Austin, this high-rise Google Tower in Austin, is being built to serve as the the largest and tallest office tower in the area and the development covers up to 800,000 square feet of office space, 1,411 parking spaces on the lower floors along with some underground floors. In addition, it also features outdoor roof areas, terraces and creek-side retail.

Financing for this project was provided by (Michael Saul Dell) MSD Capital, a personal investment firm of Dell founder Michael Dell. Other companies signed up to work on this high-rise Google Tower Austin include DPR Construction as general contractor, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and STG Design.

According to the building’s developer and owner, Trammell Crow, the topping out of this high-rise building took 350 workers, working more than 1 million man hours and also DPR Construction kept the  project ahead of schedule despite the pandemic occurring over a year into its construction process

Google’s tower, upon completion will become Austin’s largest and tallest office tower with approximately 800,000 rentable square feet and it is expected to be completed by May 2022, with the California-based Google LLC, part of Alphabet Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOGL) planning to move in as tenants, sometime in 2023. Now all that remains to complete the high-rise Google Tower in Austin, are the finishing touches on exterior and interior parts of the building.
