Demolition of the Paradise valley mall commenced recently in Phoenix, Arizona and this was approved by the city council in preparation for the redevelopment plan of the mall, with the primary aim of turning an indoor shopping center into an open-air haven, and also providing a stable economy around the region and the neighboring areas as well.
The Paradise Valley Mall project is expected to commence in the fall of 2022, and will be handled by the real estate investment company, Macerich who owns the building and they will be working in collaboration with Red Development, a commercial real estate company. This newly approved redevelopment plan, sitting on 92-acres of land, is located on the north western region of Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard in Paradise Valley village of Phoenix, Arizona, which will be accessible through the Arizona Loop 101 Freeway and Highway 51.

The Paradise Valley Mall project involves the remodeling of old structures and the development of unexploited areas on the plot that will improve the mall’s worth. The redesigning plan will include a combination of eateries and diner, food stores, a variety of retail shops, office or working spaces and warehouses including 2,500 different family housing units with a scope of around 10 stories high covering up to 3.25 million square feet, totaling to 6.5 million square feet of building space.
This residential area will have a geography exhibiting gardening landscape and shrubs for beautification. Although, there are certain areas of the plot that will not be affected by the revamping of the mall, and these include the car park and mesquite library located northwards of the car park.
There are plans to build a metro transportation network to enable ease of movement around the complex, while improvements will also be made to the walkways, the public areas, access landscape and the general mall circulation areas.
The Mayor, Kate Gallego said, “The redevelopment of Paradise Valley Mall will provide economic stabilization, not just to the immediate area but to the surrounding neighborhoods as well.”
