Vantage Data Centers has announced its largest investment to date, “Frontier,” a $25 billion hyperscale data center campus in Shackelford County, Texas, with 1.4 gigawatts of capacity for artificial intelligence workloads. The development is the company’s largest in its international portfolio and positions Texas as a rising center for AI-driven digital infrastructure.
Spreading over 1,200 acres, the Frontier campus will house 10 data centers with a total 3.7 million square feet dedicated to ultra high-density racks of over 250kW. For housing the energy-intensive requirements of AI, the building will have liquid cooling infrastructure and other sustainable-by-design hardware. Vantage has committed to pursuing LEED certification, and will employ a closed-loop chiller system that saves billions of gallons of water annually.
Construction is already underway
Construction has already commenced, and the first building will be completed in the latter half of 2026. The campus will generate more than 5,000 construction and operations positions, yielding lasting economic value to Shackelford County and the state of Texas.
Dana Adams, president of North America at Vantage Data Centers, described the campus as a milestone for the company:
“Texas has become a strategic and critical market for AI suppliers. Our opening of Frontier with 1.4GW of GPU compute capability is a turning point for Vantage in serving the unprecedented demands of our customers. This investment will be a significant enabler of economic growth while improving digital infrastructure for AI use.”
Texas leaders also welcomed the news. Governor Greg Abbott utilized the potential of the project to improve the state’s stature as a world leader in technology:
“Vantage Data Centers’ $25 billion investment will create thousands of good-paying jobs and bring new revenue to our communities. Partnering with innovative businesses like Vantage ensures Texas remains at the forefront of this emerging frontier.”
Local leaders seconded the call, and Shackelford County Judge John Viertel referred to the development as an appropriate recognition of the region’s pioneer history. “We expect years of collaboration with Vantage as they bring education opportunities, community investment, and jobs while introducing a necessary digital service,” he commented.
Vantage’s commitment to community giving back
Frontier campus also reflects Vantage’s commitment to community giving back. Vantage plans to partner with local contractors, trade partners, schools, and nonprofits, offering college scholarships to Shackelford County students and financial assistance to local charities throughout the project.
DigitalBridge Group, Inc., the sponsor of Vantage as part of its portfolio strategy, said the project reflects the scale and resilience that are needed in the AI age. “Frontier is an important milestone for Vantage and for the digital infrastructure ecosystem broadly,” said Jon Mauck, Senior Managing Director at DigitalBridge.
Marc Ganzi, CEO of DigitalBridge, added that the initiative aligns with decades of experience investing in global data infrastructure: “Vantage’s Frontier campus is a direct response to the challenges of power and scale in AI. It reflects the playbook we’ve built—backing leaders, enabling growth, and delivering long-term value for customers and communities.”
With Frontier, Vantage is not only expanding its global footprint but also positioning itself as a central player in building the backbone of the AI economy. And Texas is the right place to do so, the state is already home to some of the nation’s largest data centers such as the Helios AI campus in West Texas, Equinix Infomart in Dallas, CyrusOne’s Carrollton facility, QTS Houston West, and the massive Alamo Data Center campus in Red Oak.”
