Recently in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, the Vietnam-Korea cooperation center on smart city and construction technology (VKC Project) was launched.

The VKC Project aims to improve the development of smart cities and to introduce and apply the latest construction technology. All this is in an effort to further develop the country’s construction industry.

The project is a result of cooperation between the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MoLIT) with Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction.

Expectations for the project 

In a nutshell, the center will serve as a professional establishment promoting advanced research and training in smart cities. As a result, it will contribute towards the country’s goals of building and developing, sustainable smart cities by 2030.

On the Vietnamese side, the project’s Organizing Committee (Ministry of Construction) assigned the project’s implementation to the Urban Development Department. The Department of Architectural among other relevant bodies will also be involved.

The Institute of Construction Technology as well as the Land and Housing Corporation in Korea will be involved in the project’s implementation. The Korean Human Settlement Research Institute alongside the Korea Advanced Infrastructure Technology Agency will also be involved.

Remarks on the Vietnam-Korea cooperation center on smart city and construction technology (VKC Project)

The Director of the International Cooperation Department spoke at the project’s launching ceremony.

Le Trung Thanh said that the project will concretize the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 2018. the MoU was signed between MoLiIT and the Ministry of Construction. Furthermore, the VKC Project will concretize the contents of the Cooperation Agreement, signed on September 2021, between the two ministries.

The President of the South Korean Institute of Civil Engineering and Construction Technology (KICT) also spoke about the project. Kim Byung Suk said that South Korea highly appreciates and values the results of bilateral cooperation with Vietnam.

The cooperation Centre will strengthen the relationship between South Korea and Vietnam.
