The Werrington Arterial Stage 2 Project is set to receive a $6 million investment from the New South Wales (NSW) and Federal Government. The funding will contribute towards the project’s further planning and development.

Impressively, the Werrington Arterial Stage 2 Project will serve as a connection to the Great Western Highway with Marsden Park and Werrington. Furthermore, it will also enable a connection between the employment areas of St Marys with the North West Growth Area. As a result, people will have an easier time commuting to and from work.

An overview of the Werrington Arterial Stage 2 project

The funding is a part of a Strategic Business Case, specifically for the Werrington Arterial Stage 2.

It is set to provide the strategic design, early cost estimation as well as an economic assessment. The project features a corridor that serves as a key link between Richmond Road and the Great Western Highway. Thus, the Strategic Business Case for the project will also include an investigation to identify any potential risks to the existing alignment of the corridor.

Upon officially concluded consultation with the New South Wales Government, the project’s delivery schedule will then be determined. However, it is expected to be completed by early 2024.

The project strives to alleviate the 22,000 vehicles per day that travel from the M4 at St Marys down through to the North West Growth Area. As a result, the project will alleviate congestion through a heavily constrained school precinct. Furthermore, the project aims to improve the road network reliability as well as efficiency.

It will help support future projects including the St Marys station upgrade. The project’s success will also support the Sydney Metro project, as well as the Outer Sydney Orbital. Furthermore, the project will provide greater connections to the Dunheved Business Park.
