XZero City, a proposed sustainable community providing a net zero carbon lifestyle for 100,000 residents in Kuwait has been unveiled.Â
The city, which will become the world’s largest net zero community will be launched by URB, a global leader in developing sustainable cities. Through the project, the firm aims to shape the future through the creation of the next generation of Net Zero Sustainable Cities.
XZero City features and amenities
The project spans a total area of 1,600 hectares. It offers a diverse range of sectors including real estate, tourism, educational, medical, entertainment, and retail sectors. It will therefore supply a total number of 30,000 residential units. Residents and visitors alike will have access to wellness centers and clinics with 100% renewable energy, alongside an autism village.

Furthermore, the green XZero City will offer an educational hub that features a nursery, as well as a school and institute. In addition to the aforementioned, the project will also feature a commercial hub that includes flexible office spaces as well as an indoor mall. It will create well up to 30,000 eco-friendly jobs.
Contribution to Kuwait National Development Plan
The XZero City project will significantly contribute to the Kuwait National Development Plan whose vision of build eco-cities. In alignment with the Kuwait Vision 2035, the project will also play a vital role in enabling the next generation of sustainable cities.
The CEO of URB spoke about the project. Baharash Bagherian said that the green city is a new paradigm in green urban living. Moreover, it sets a new benchmark model for the next generation of sustainable cities.
The CEO further added that the self-sufficient city aims to provide all its residents with their caloric food intake through its productive landscape. Therefore, it will incorporate various methods of urban farming. These will range from biodomes, vertical farms, and aquaponics to biosaline agriculture and community gardens.
