The ongoing construction work on the close to 11km rural/open country section of the Yaounde-Nsimalen Highway, which comprises a state-of-the-art road to link Carrefour Ahala, passing through Carrefour Meyo to the Nsimalen roundabout, is expected to be completed and opened to the public before the end of 2021.
This was revealed by Celestine Courtes Ketcha, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development (Minhdu) in a bid to put an end to the controversy that swells within a part of the opinion, about this infrastructure project.

Speaking to the members of the Finance and Budget Committee, the minister said that the project is approximately 96% complete.
“The open country section is fully paved over the approximately 11 km stretch. We are going to complete the entire section in 2022, just as we are going to activate ourselves to complete the financing of the urban section and launch it in 2022,” explained Mrs. Ketcha.

Just a reminder, the Yaoundé-Nsimalen highway project is being developed in two phases: an open country section of nearly 12 km and an urban section of a similar length.
