Tampa General Hospital’s $550 million Master Facility Plan expansion continues to make tangible progress as construction advances on a new state-of-the-art Surgical, Neuroscience & Transplant Pavilion and several completed components of the campus redevelopment. The expansion — the largest in the hospital’s history — is centred on a 13-storey, 565,000 sq ft pavilion that will include 144 patient beds, 32 operating suites, expanded ICU capacity, and integrated education and emergency care spaces designed to elevate clinical services at the Tampa Medical and Research District. Pre-construction and design coordination efforts have concluded, and full construction momentum is now underway, with many systems now detailed off-site to overcome the tight campus constraints.

In tandem with the pavilion construction, Tampa General continues to deliver key pieces of its broader masterplan to modernise facilities across its Davis Islands campus. Recent milestones include the Children’s Hospital renovation nearing February 2026 completion, the Behavioral Health Hospital finishing in March 2025, and earlier delivery of the central energy plant, which provides fully redundant power across the main campus. Alongside these developments, the hospital is extending its regional footprint with network expansions and future planning for new campuses in surrounding communities to serve a broader patient base. These integrated investments are designed to optimise care delivery, improve operational efficiency, and support long-term regional healthcare growth. A similar expansion drive is also underway at BayCare, where construction has begun on the US$650 million Pagidipati Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s in Tampa, reinforcing the scale of paediatric and acute-care infrastructure investment now reshaping the wider Tampa Bay healthcare market.
