An upcoming cottage-style apartment complex in a rapidly expanding area of Leland, North Carolina, is under construction. The Cape Cottage Apartment Homes under Sands Companies, off West Gate Drive, will consist of 315 one- and two-story cottages spread across 30.4 acres. The one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes will range in size from 510 to 1,293 square feet. The first cottages are scheduled to be built in early 2023 and will be available for rent at a starting price of US$1,200. According to the town’s current development map, the project is one of 24 significant developments now underway in Leland and one of seven along West Gate Drive. Surrounding the prospective Cape Cottage complex are 240 townhouses at Summer Bay Villas, 240 units at Westgate Townhomes, and 366 apartments at Belmont at Westgate, all of which are awaiting final inspection.

The Westgate Nature Park and new shopping are both within walking distance of the neighborhood. Sands Companies, multi-family development, and construction business are behind the Cape Cottage build-to-rent project. The company has also constructed in Georgia, coastal Florida, and other sections of the Carolinas, including its most recent development, Seaglass Cottages at Barefoot in North Myrtle Beach. The rental cottage apartment dwellings look to be identical to those being built by the business in Leland.

Commentary on Cape Cottage Homes Carolina

“We discovered that tenants in our target markets were desperate for something like this.” The epidemic increased the value of these big, freestanding homes. “Cape Cottage fills a niche in the Wilmington region for such horizontal residences,” Sands President Joe Morrison noted in a press statement. Cape Cottage houses will have front porches, plank flooring, chef’s kitchens, and vaulted ceilings. Side pet yards and walk-in showers will be available in certain apartments. According to the firm, each unit is intended to let in plenty of natural light. Private workstation pods, a gaming area, and a “resort-style” pool with a sun deck, as well as poolside cabanas with lounge chairs, will be available on-site.
