Renaker has presented plans to construct Trinity Islands, a four high rises in the City of Manchester. Proposals lodged by the developer would lead to a high-rise quartet – with an enormous 60-storey tower – developed near River Irwell. The four-acre Trinity Islands site is divided in two by the Trinity Way ring road and earlier used as a car park.
The project’s ‘elegant’ towers would be developed in pairs on both sides of the road, ranging between 39 and 60 storeys in height. The towers are set to accommodate a total of 1950 apartments, with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments. The project also includes a residents’ lounge, a drinking area and a residents’ lounge, together with ground floor as commercial space. Trinity Islands is expected to cost around £530m.

Trinity Islands: The new landmark gateway to the city center
A design and access statement presented with the application sets out Renaker’s vision for the site. It stated that the elegant development proposed at Trinity Islands will offer a new landmark gateway to the city center whilst also providing a high-quality place for living. At ground level, important investment will integrate the project into this evolving part of Manchester. The paper goes on to express how the towers would be ‘grounded within a verdant parkland’ and ‘form ‘green lungs’ at the city’s entrance.
Furthermore, the proposals ‘seek to supplement the neighborhood with green areas as well as making the area more pedestrian friendly, with improved connections to the River Irwell. The Trinity Islands sites are situated at traffic dominated area where there is the chance to transform their nature and character from being a concrete car park wasteland to green and open amenity landscapes. The developer added that the ‘soft landscaping’ will offer an environment attractive to both people and wildlife, and furthermore reducing air and noise pollution.
